Camping Asia (2023)

Camping Asia is an interdisciplinary performing arts academy co-organized by the Taipei Performing Arts Center (TPAC) and the Centre national de la danse (CND, France). Launched in 2015 by director and choreographer Mathilde Monnier, the camp format brings together artists, art students, professional dancers and dance enthusiasts each year for body-based exchanges. In 2017, TPAC and CND signed a cooperation memorandum and launched the Asian edition.
For the 2023 edition, Shihya Peng led the 'Body as Storyteller' workshop, focused on expressing emotions and narratives through the body. Her method starts from stillness and inner observation: each participant explores around thirty emotional states to discover their own movement vocabulary. Rather than teaching choreography, the aim is to reveal what the body already carries.
